What is Insomnia ?

Although many of the sleeping problems that affect people are temporary, there are an increasing number of sufferers who are tormented for months and even years by restless nights. Many take sleep for granted but more than 25% of the UK find sleeping difficult and the lack of a good night’s sleep leads to exhaustion, irritability and difficulty concentrating the following day. Often, sleeping problems can reflect worries and stresses occuring during the day and these can manifest themselves as nightmares or night terrors. It can be quite a lonely place to be when it feels like everyone else is asleep !
