Treatment for anxieties: Serving Watford, Bushey, Hemel Hempstead, St Albans, Hertfordshire & the surrounding areas.
Throughout our everyday lives we can all suffer from anxiety in response to common problems and pressures of life. Ordinarily, we can deal with these exertions but there are some instances, however, when the stresses can become overwhelming and disproportionate and anxiety sets in.. If you are struggling to combat these stresses and pressure you may find that your worries become intrusive and impede your life in general.
There are an array of symptoms that can indicate the prescence of anxiety which can include;
- Difficulty concentrating
- Dry mouth
- Sense of dread
- Feeling ‘on edge’
- Difficulty in falling, or staying, asleep
- Panic attacks
Panic attacks may include a whole host of physical symptoms that include chest pains, hyperventilating, excessive sweating, tremors, dizziness, rapid heart beat and tension. Some have described the sensation on a panic attack as though they are ‘going crazy’. Often, during a panic attack, it is also possible to feel a heightened sense of dread or that ‘something awful is about to happen’ or possibly it may include a specific fear of dying. Indeed, many people suffering from a panic attack have thought that they were having a heart attack.
What causes anxiety?
Essentially, anxiety is created by the beliefs that we hold and the particular ways in which we think about them. It is a common misconception that anxiety is caused by a specific object of fear, but this is not true. It is all about the way in which a person thinks about it. Very importantin determining whether a person will create anxiety towards a particular scenario, object or action is their own perception of how much control they believe they have in reagrds to it. For example, those who have a belief that they can exercise control over a potential threat do not create anxiety surrounding it and thus aren’t concerned by it. Conversely, those who do not believe that they can manage a potential threat will experience high levels of anxiety. They will focus on their lack of coping skills and as a result will view their environment as fraught with danger.
